Artist Statement

未完の世界

ある日、作品を展示用にトリミングをしていた時に、ふと違うパーツを組み合わせてみたら、思いの外、おもしろく、不思議な調和が生まれました。そこから日本の伝統的な陶器の修復技法「金継ぎ」を見てヒントを得て、私なりにアレンジして制作することを試みました。
一つ一つの墨作品のかけらは、私自身の不完全さ、歪さ、ほころびを表しています。これをつなぎ合わせて金色の絵の具で繋いでいくことで、自分自身のいいところも悪いことろも受け入れ、共に生きていくものであることを意図しています。
私は人間は不完全な存在だと考えています。よりよい方向を目指し、努力することも大切なことだと思いますが、自分の欠点、不完全さを受け入れることは、自分を愛することでもあります。そして相手との違いを謙虚に理解し、共存していくことで、平和に繋がると私は考えています。

Imperfect World

The idea for my collage work came from the Japanese concept of "Kintsugi", which is the art of fixing broken pottery by applying golden lacquer on the cracks, making something imperfect even more beautiful.

Through my collage work, I intend to show how I accept and live with my own imperfections, or the scars from my past, emphasizing the grace that can come from one's brokenness. My work is also related to the Japanese philosophy of "Wabisabi", which can be interpreted as a celebration of life's flawed beauty.
